Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took care of Deepika Padukone when she recently caught malaria on the set of “Houseful.” The two are shooting in London after recently working together on “Chandni Chowk to China.”
When Deepika became ill, Akshay quickly showed his chivalry, reaching out to make sure she was ok. He advised his costar to stay away from the set and ensured that she was looked after during the three days she was confined to her bed.
The two recently worked together on the flop, “Chandni Chowk to China.” While that film was not a career builder, it did build their friendship. Because of that film Deepika even included Akshay on the list of men she trusts most in her life. She said,”I'm lucky to be surrounded by gallant men. Whether it's my dad, Ranbir (Kapoor), Akshay (Kumar), Shahrukh Khan or any of my co-stars, I haven't so far encountered any ill-behaved men."
Deepika returned to the set after her days off with some hesitation due of the seriousness of the disease. She told IANS from London, “I did return to the set on Saturday. I had to shoot. But I'm not sure whether it was the wisest of decisions, considering it was malaria.” Deepika says that she is still recovering.
Deepika next release is “ Love Aaj kal " that comes out this Friday. Saif Ali Khan,who plays the cynical love interest opposite of Deepika in the romance, was also mentioned in Deepika’s list of “gallant men”.
It looks like Deepika knows some things about romance and leading men. She admits that like many others, she is a hopeless romantic, “So many times I advise people on their love life. I can always tell the difference between those who understand and don't understand the value of true love,” she said.
They say that love is the best medicine so Deepika should be mending very quickly!
